From the moment we opened our doors here at Sylacauga OB-GYN, our mission has been to provide superior care to the women of the Coosa Valley in their own backyard. Now, we’re growing again to meet the needs of our community and bring another small town doctor with big city training to our team.
We couldn’t be more proud to announce that Dr. Ashley Surles will be joining us on August 1, 2022. Dr. Surles will be a full-service OB-GYN helping women throughout all phases of life, from their first exam to delivery of their children to menopause and beyond. And we happen to know for a fact that she’s an excellent physician—our own Dr. McInnis has worked with her before, and hand-picked her to come and join the team.
So, let us introduce you to the newest member of the Sylacauga OB-GYN family, Dr. Surles!
About Dr. Surles
Dr. Ashley Surles is from Madison, MS. She attended medical school and completed her four-year residency at the University of Mississippi in Jackson, MS. During her first year of residency, she worked with and trained under co-resident Dr. McInnis!
Dr. Surles is passionate about women’s health and really enjoys caring for her patients during all of their important milestones in life. Providing care for women throughout their pregnancies and deliveries is one of her favorite aspects of being an OB/GYN. Dr. Surles is eager to promote a healthy and happy lifestyle for her patients.
Dr. Surles will be joined in Sylacauga by her husband, Dr. Bret Surles, who is joining Sylacauga Pediatrics. She and Bret have two rescue dogs, Turner and Ellie, who they love to take hiking. Dr. Surles also enjoys reading, working out, and cooking with friends.
No Stranger to Small Town Values…
Here at Sylacauga OB-GYN, it’s important to us that we only introduce physicians into our practice who understand the needs of our community. After all, in a close-knit community like ours, not just anyone will be a good fit. That’s why Dr. McInnis specifically recruited Dr. Surles.
As a fourth-year resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC), Dr. McInnis got to know Dr. Surles as a mentee, colleague, and friend. She recognized in Dr. Surles an impressive skill in the exam, delivery, and operating rooms that she wanted to bring to the citizens of Sylacauga and our surrounding area. We’re lucky to have her join our team!

Both Dr. McInnis and Dr. Rehberg completed their residencies there, taking advantage of the institution’s cutting-edge patient care and state-of-the-art techniques. One value instilled in them while they were there is to treat all patients with the best possible care—not just the ones who venture out to the bigger cities for treatment.
That mission has informed Sylacauga OB-GYN from the start, and Dr. Surles certainly shares it. She is highly trained to perform all obstetric and gynecological services, from delivering babies to performing surgeries to simply advising women on their health and lifestyle options. And she delivers her skills and education with a caring, down-to-earth attitude that makes a genuine difference for her patients.
Putting Down Roots in Sylacauga
Dr. Surles brings not only her knowledge and expertise to our town, but also her husband’s! Dr. Bret Surles is a pediatric specialist who also practiced at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, home of the only dedicated children’s hospital in Mississippi. Together, they’re excited to serve the families of Sylacauga—she helping women at every stage of life, and he helping their children as they grow and thrive.
Dr. Surles is Accepting New Patients Now
Dr. Surles will join us on August 1, 2022, and we’re thrilled to bring a new OB/GYN into the Sylacauga OB-GYN family. We know that she and her husband will be an amazing resource for the women and children of our town. In the coming months, we’ll be sharing more about her interests, specialties, and expertise.
