Low Risk Pregnancy

Most pregnancies are considered low risk. A pregnancy is considered low risk if the mother does not have nor develop any conditions that could negatively impact the health of herself or the fetus. Mothers with low risk pregnancies are generally healthy and can expect a normal childbirth and delivery. Maintained prenatal care is just as important during this time. Schedule routine visits with Sylacauga OB/GYN, and have any questions or concerns regarding pregnancy answered.

High Risk Pregnancy

There are several factors that can make a pregnancy high risk, including: health conditions, birth defects/congenital abnormalities, and the age and lifestyle of the mother. The degree of risk can vary from minor to life-threatening. Those with high-risk pregnancies will require greater obstetrical care both pre- and post-delivery. This specialized care from qualified professionals will increase the likelihood of a safe delivery and a healthy baby. At Sylacauga OB/GYN, our doctors have experience with the treatment of gestational diabetes, blood clots, sexually transmitted infections, and other medical conditions that may put mother and child at higher risk.

Cesarean Section

For women with certain health complications and/or delivery issues, a cesarean delivery — more commonly known as a C-section — is a safer alternative than vaginal delivery. A C-section is a surgery in which incisions are made to the mother’s abdomen and uterus to deliver a baby. Sylacauga OB/GYN can help mothers determine if this procedure is right for them and their baby.

Infertility Evaluation & Treatment

At Sylacauga OB/GYN, we understand the emotional and physical difficulties that come from not being able to get or stay pregnant. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), infertility is defined by not being able to get pregnant after one year or longer of trying. Sylacauga OB/GYN offers testing for infertility to determine the cause of your reproductive difficulties. In addition, we provide treatment and referrals for you to find a path that fits your desires and needs.

On Site Ultrasounds (3D/4D)

Prenatal care involves monitoring your pregnancy via ultrasound, blood test, pelvic exam, urinalysis and other tools. An ultrasound exam uses sound waves to produce images in order to monitor pregnancy in expecting mothers. The images from ultrasounds provide vital information to you and your doctor. This exam can answer many of your questions through things such as determining gestational age and identifying developmental milestones.

In Office Fetal Testing – NST/BP

Our staff is trained to walk you through the many stages and milestones of you and your baby’s birth journey. Sylacauga OB/GYN offers routine lab tests and in-office fetal tests such as the Fetal Non-Stress test and blood pressure checks. This type of testing is an easy, non-invasive way of detecting congenital anomalies and checking on the general well-being of your baby.
