Meet the Sylacauga OB-GYN Team: Spotlight on Lauren Littleton

At Sylacauga OB-GYN, our exceptional team is at the heart of the high standard of care we provide to our patients. We take immense pride in the dedication of every team member, and it’s our pleasure to celebrate their contributions.

This month, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on our hardworking PA-C, Lauren Littleton. We’ll share insights into Lauren’s passion for patient care, her journey in women’s health, and the invaluable role she plays in our practice.

Lauren’s Journey Into Women’s Health

Lauren Littleton is a skilled, certified physician assistant at Sylacauga OB-GYN, and she has provided her expertise and compassionate care to the clinic since 2016. Her journey into women’s health began during a transformative summer rotation in 2015, where she discovered her passion for the field. Reflecting on her experience, Lauren shares, “I never dreamed I would land in women’s health, but during my rotation, I fell in love with this place and these people.”

Under the guidance of Dr. Rehberg, Lauren found not only a great teacher and mentor but also a supportive environment that fostered her growth. “The clinic staff was welcoming, fun, and helpful. The patients were amazing,” she emphasizes, highlighting the warm and inclusive atmosphere that drew her in.

Lauren’s decision to join Sylacauga OB-GYN was deeply rooted in her belief that the opportunity was a higher calling. “When Dr. Rehberg started talking about how I might be able to work here, I knew the Lord was opening a door, and I had to walk through it,” she recalls.

Lauren Littleton’s Role at Sylacauga OB-GYN

Lauren cherishes the privilege of accompanying women through the highs and lows of their lives. “It is such an honor to walk with a woman through some of the best and worst times in her life and everything in between,” she adds.

In her role as a physician assistant, Lauren’s responsibilities encompass a wide range of crucial tasks. From conducting annual exams to addressing gynecologic issues, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, counseling patients on surgical procedures, and providing obstetric care, Lauren’s expertise knows no bounds. She also actively participates in surgical procedures, as well as rounds on pre- and post-operative and postpartum patients in the hospital.

Lauren’s Passion for Women’s Health

“I can relate to women because I have been through much of what they are going through myself,” Lauren shares. As a mother of two children, she understands many of the struggles women face physically and emotionally during pregnancy.

Lauren emphasizes the importance of routine screenings and early detection. “I think women often put everyone else first and put their health on the back burner,” she notes. “We tell patients every day that the only people who get cervical cancer anymore are the ones who fall away and don’t get their yearly Pap smears. It’s so important to come in and get your routine screenings done.”

She encourages women not to let fear of discomfort keep them from seeking care. “There may be 10-15 minutes of discomfort or awkwardness that could change the course of your life if our testing or exam is able to find an abnormality early,” she says.  She always prioritizes empathetic practice, treating patients how she would want to be treated.

In addition to her dedication to preventive care, Lauren is passionate about supporting women through the postpartum period and its associated challenges. “I personally battled postpartum depression, and I had a very hard time communicating how I was feeling,” she acknowledges. “I am always happy to talk with Moms about what they are going through in a safe, judgment-free zone.”

Lauren’s Life Outside of the Office

Outside of the office, Lauren finds joy in her role as a mother to two wonderful children, Reese and Caleb, and shares a fulfilling life with her husband, Josh. “My family is my biggest source of happiness and inspiration,” she reflects.

Lauren and her family are ardent supporters of outdoor activities and love the time spent camping and engaging in outdoor adventures together. “We truly cherish the beauty of the outdoors and the sense of togetherness it brings,” she remarks. “It’s a great joy to embrace the natural wonders that are abundant in our area.” They’re also proud members of Marble City Baptist Church.

Having lived in Sylacauga since the age of four, Lauren has a profound connection to the community. It’s not just the place where she works; it’s her home. “Sylacauga is full of hard-working, kind people who would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it. You don’t find many places like that anymore,” she says with pride.
